Bridges and Crowns
When a tooth is fractured, has a large, old filling, or is severely damaged by decay, we recommend the placement of a crown or cap.
Crowns strengthen and protect the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile. Types of crowns include the full porcelain-fused-to-metal crown and the all-metal crown.
*Fitting a crown requires at least 2 visits to our office.
To better educate you, here is an example of the crown process:
1. Removal of any decay and shape the tooth. | 2. Makes and fits a temporary or transitional crown of plastic or metal. | ||
3. Make an impression (imprint to make crown) |
4. In a subsequent visit, Removal of the temporary to fit and adjust the final crown before it is cemented permanently. |
